Groth does not make many wines, however, the wines that they make are lovely. The tasting room is located in a stunning building with a lovely view of the vineyards. You do not need an appointment to try their wines.
Our tasting started with two whites. The 06 Chardonnay (no malolactic fermentation so crisp and acidic) and the 06 Sauvignon Blanc (blended with 4% Semillon, fruity and light wine). Both reds are Cabernet based. We only tasted one of the reds, the 05 Cabernet Oakville (17% Merlot). It was smooth and peppery. The reserve Cabernet was not part of the tasting but I would imagine it is wonderful.
Downsides? We enjoyed the tasting but it was quick and there was not much to the experience. The wines are nice but they are pricey.
