Sometime around 2006, I was given a bottle of Jordan Cabernet as a gift and thought it was fantastic. My next trip to Northern Sonoma consequently included a trip to the stunning Jordan winery. The story behind this place is literally one where the owner, Tom Jordan, struck oil, made tons of money and started this magnificent winery.
I did the library tasting on my visit which was wonderful. We tried the Chardonnay and several vintages of the Cabernet with an assortment of cheeses. The aged Cab was wonderful indicating that there is longevity to the Jordan wines.
The grounds alone are a good enough reason to visit. The library tasting was a relaxing and dignified approach to learning about wines and something I wish more wineries offered.
Downsides? The wines are somewhat expensive so no bargain hunting here, but they are worth the price. You need an appointment for tastings.
