Mazzocco has a gorgeous tasting room in Alexander Valley. With high ceilings and lots of windows, the facility is bright and welcoming (at least on a sunny day!). We liked many of their wines and had a great experience (in spite of it being very very hot on the September day that we visited).

The focus is red wines, primarily Zinfandel, but they make quite a few different wines. One highlight of our tasting was the 99 Matrix Bordeaux blend (mostly Cabernet with Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot). The last three wines that we savored, however, were the Zins from various vineyards. They were fruit forward and full bodied wines, perfect for barbeque or another meal that has some sweetness in it. My favorite was the 04 Zin Home Ranch.
Downsides? Not a great place for white wine fans but that will be the case in Alexander Valley in general
