After a visit to MacRostie and you will feel more hip and stylish. This winery is located in the warehouse district of Sonoma and you definitely feel like you are supporting an up and coming venture by enjoying the wines made by MacRostie. Your support is not altruistic though as they make some very lovely cool weather varietals; Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah (my personal favorite).
The visit is going to be about the wine and not a fancy tasting room visit. On the day we stopped by, there was a card table set up in the winery for tastings. However, I love being in the place where the wine was made when trying new wines, it helps build a sense of connection to what you are trying.
Highlights from my visit were the Chardonnay ($35) and Pinot Noir ($40) from the Wildcat Vineyard, however, it was the Syrah from this vineyard that won me over ($34).
Downsides? This is a no frills operation but the wine will make the visit worthwhile.
