This is a great winery to visit on a sunny afternoon. Located near the Sonoma square, Roessler has a wonderful patio overlooking the street providing tasters with great people watching opportunities while enjoying some lovely wines. This winery specializes in Pinot Noir made from grapes grown in various parts of California, including Anderson Valley, The Russian River Valley, Sta. Rita Hills and the Santa Lucia Highlands. In addition, they have Pinot from the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Tasting at this winery gives Pinot fans a wonderful opportunity to assess the effect of the various regions, or terrior, on this popular varietal.
Roessler Cellars recently entered a partnership with Hall Wines in Napa, which will benefit Hall wine club members when visiting Roessler in Sonoma.
Downsides? The tasting room can be crowded on weekend afternoons which is a common downside of tasting rooms in popular areas. However, the outdoor patio seating option (in my opinion) is best enjoyed in the afternoon making dealing with the crowds worth it.
